After the design process, we’ll paint your pool shape in your yard. This gives you a chance to see how your pool fills the space and allows our construction team to assess the pool’s proximity to structures like your house, sheds, and fences.

If needed, we’ll remove a gate or a portion of fence to allow us to access your yard to excavate your pool. We’ll give you a heads-up a few days in advance so you can secure your pets.

Next, using the layout and our plan set as a guide, we’ll dig your pool to the shape and depth we’ve agreed upon. Once the excavation is completed, our construction expert will check to ensure that the depth, dimensions, and distances are all according to the plan.

The plumbing is the circulation system for the pool. We install piping and equipment that will take the water to and from the pool (through a pump, a filter and other components) to keep the water crystal clear. We place that plumbing under pressure to ensure that we will not have leaks in the system down the road.

During this phase, we place the reinforcing rebar in your pool. This becomes the backbone of your pool’s structure. We place these bars in a pattern specifically engineered for your pool. In the top perimeter of the structure, we place significantly stronger steel than the industry standard requires so you can have the peace of mind that your pool will last a lifetime.

Once the steel has been placed, we’ll run and connect all the electrical needed for your project. This includes running conduit (pipe) and the wire inside it that will bring power from your house main panel to your pool panel, and then to things like pumps, lights and other powered features.

After we secure approvals from the city or county, and the go-ahead from our construction superintendent, we’ll place the shotcrete structure around the steel cage in your pool. Shotcrete is air-blown concrete. We use a mix that includes extra additives to help further strengthen the concrete. Our craftsmen hand-form every pool to create its unique shape and features.

There are two general ways to install the surface you walk on around a pool. We call this surface the “decking”.

One approach is to pour concrete all the way to the edge of the pool—overhanging it by 1-2” to establish an edge for a swimmer to grab. The way we finish the concrete can vary based on local conditions and available materials. Most often, we add a textured acrylic topping to the concrete. This product is available in many different colors.

The other approach is to install a coping stone—a slab of natural stone or pre-cast concrete—on the top of the pool’s edge. This can stand alone; we call this “Coping Only” or we can install coping on the edge and install additional pavers or concrete deck outside of the coping. We call this area of the decking: “Field”.

Waterline tile is a 6” strip of tile that forms a transition between the bottom of the deck and the top of the interior finish (often called “plaster” or “pebble”). This usually follows the perimeter of the pool. The pool water sits halfway up the tile (roughly 3” below the bottom of the deck).

The interior finish is the surface we apply to the structure of the pool. It is what determines the color of the water (as it interacts with the sky above).

Finishes include:

• Plaster: A smooth hand-troweled finish.
• Quartz: A smooth hand troweled finish that replaces some of the sand with quartz.
• Aggregate: A textured finish that includes some sort of stone like pebbles.

When we finish a pool, we often refer to it as “plastering” the pool—even if the finish is quartz or pebble.

All-Tile: We tile the whole interior surface of the pool with small tile. By bid only

Once your interior finish has been applied, and the pool is full of water, we will come out and perform a “start-up”. Our tech will install any remaining fittings needed to operate the pool and run the equipment to ensure that everything is properly working.

Next, our orientation tech will meet you to give you an orientation. The tech will explain your equipment operation and show you how to perform any maintenance necessary to sustain your pool’s optimal performance.

A pool vacuum is a product that is connected to a line from the pool equipment. Set on a schedule, this system will vacuum the walls and floor of your pool and carry debris to catch baskets in the equipment area. The water then moves through the filter and the cleaned water returns back to the pool again. It will not vacuum shallow shelves or steps and will not go into an attached spa.

A hybrid system combines the pool vacuum above (for the floor and walls) with a partial in-floor system (that will clean shallow shelves and steps.

An In-Floor cleaning system consists of flush cleaning heads, strategically placed on the floor, steps, benches, and shelves, that will systematically move debris from these surfaces into the main drain to be carried to catch baskets in the equipment area. The water then moves through the filter and the cleaned water returns back to the pool again.
